Quebec's Act to establish a legal framework for information technology recognizes a signature affixed to a technology-based document, provided the document's integrity is ensured and the link between the signature and the document is maintained. Here is how E-sign Maprime.ca meets these requirements.
Certified timestamp
The final document receives an RFC 3161 timestamp token from a recognized authority (DigiCert), verifiable in your PDF reader.
Complete audit trail
Sending, viewing, code, signature: each step is dated by the server and attached to the signature certificate.
Two-step verification
Access through a personal link, then a one-time code sent to the same email. Five attempts maximum, code valid for 10 minutes.
Privacy respected
No facial recognition or biometrics. If an ID is required, your advisor reviews it manually; your health insurance card is never requested.
Time-limited links
Each link expires after a period set by your advisor and can be cancelled at any time.
Recognizing a genuine email
Phishing exists: here is how to check that a signature request really comes from me.
- The email mentions my name, Jean Carrière, and the exact name of the document we discussed.
- The button leads to an address starting with https://maprime.ca/e-sign-signature.html
- The verification code only arrives when you request it, on the signing page.
- I will never ask for your password, SIN, banking details or a payment to sign.

Frequently asked questions
Is an electronic signature as valid as a paper signature?
In Quebec, section 39 of the Act to establish a legal framework for information technology and article 2827 of the Civil Code of Québec recognize a signature affixed to a technology-based document when the document's integrity is ensured and the link between the signature and the document is maintained. Some insurers or organizations nevertheless require their own forms or platforms: in that case, I will let you know.
Do I need an account or software?
No. The link received by email is all you need. The page works in all recent browsers, on computer, tablet or phone.
I didn't receive the verification code.
Check your junk mail, then wait one minute before requesting a new one. The code is valid for 10 minutes. If the problem persists, call me at 438 889-6474.
The link says it has expired or been cancelled.
For your security, links are time-limited. Contact me and I will send you a new link.
Who can access my document?
Only you, the other signers of the same document and myself. The document is only reachable through personal links and is never published.
Can I sign on paper instead?
Of course. Electronic signature is offered for your convenience; we can also meet in person.
Will I receive a copy?
Yes. As soon as all signers have signed, each one receives the final copy by email, along with its signature certificate.
